Security Genius S60v3 OS9.1

“Security Genius” application is a value-added service on Nokia S60 3.0 platform. It can protect a mobile user from losing his/her phone just in case the phone is lost. For example, if a user has lost his /her phone and someone has picked up the phone. If another SIM card has plugged into in the phone, then a customized message will be automatically sent out to the pre-defined mobile numbers at the boot-up of the phone. In this case, the user can get to know the person’s mobile number. For security reason, the application can ONLY be auto-started at the machine boot-up. Once the application is installed, a user cannot find it anywhere in the “My Own” or “Installed” folders. The main reason for this is that it prevents the phon- picker from un-installing the application and/or finding the existence of the application on the phone if the phone is lost. In order to enter the application, a user has to “dial” a password (which is defined by the application) plus a “#” character in the active idle screen. The default password is “123456″, which means, if a user wants to enter the application, the user needs to input the following character sequence in the active idle screen (like the way a user gets the IMEI number):123456# Once the user has entered the application, the user has the freedom to change the password to any other ones (which consists of numeric numbers from “0″ to “9″). Then length of the password should be no less than 6, and the maximum length is 10. Main Window:

1. Phone security function
If this option is on, then a SIM card change event will trigger the sending of SMS to the specific mobile numbers. If this option is off, then even a SIM card change event happens, nothing will be done.

2. Security password
This is used to set the phone security password. The default password is “123456″. A user may “dial” this number in the active idle screen to bring the app to the foreground. Please be noted that the application can ONLY be started at boot-up. If a user has changed the password to something else, then the user needs to “dial” the new password in order to get into the application. For example, if a user has changed the password to “456789″, then in order to bring forward the application, a user has to “dial”:456789#

3. Mobile number1
This is the mobile number used to send SMS to if there is SIM card change event happens and “Phone security function” is on. At each boot-up, a customized SMS message is sent to this number once only. In the next boot-up of the phone, the SMS will be sent again until the number of sent SMS has reached to the pre-defined maximum number of SMS. Please be noted that this number should be a mobile number.

4. Mobile number 2
It works the same way as last item.

5. Phone security message
Define the customized SMS for sending to “Mobile number 1″ and “Mobile number 2″. The message length should not be longer than 140 characters.

6. Max number of SMS
Define the maximum number of SMS to be sent to “Mobile number 1″ and “Mobile number 2″. If a user has defined two valid mobile numbers in the number fields, then each of the number will receive half of this maximum number of SMS if a SIM card event happens.

7. Auto start enable
By default, this application is auto-started, and this is the ONLY way to get the app started. If a user turned this option to off, then this application will never have a chance to start it again unless the user re-install the application.

* install s60_3_1_app_trk_2_7.sisx on your phone (for 9.2 symbian, else s60_3_0_app_trk_2_7.sisx )
* turn off bluetooth (if it is: on), run the above mentioned application, go to setting, choose usb, then choose the option: connect
* connect the usb with pc, while using pc suite mode.
* run the SecMan.exe on pc, check on: find metro trk port automatically.

*now safely plug out the usb after it is fininshed installing secman on mobile

*click on secman applicatiin on your mobile
*install root certificate
*turn plat. security off

*then using any explorer of mobile (y-browser preferred), copy given installserver.exe file (located in folder: sis-installer_mod)
*paste it in: c:\sys\bin\’ of your phone.

* then turn plat. security off on secman

*now try to install any unsigned application and see if it works.

You probably know that N93 can be hacked, but there are still N93 users that can’t get the full out. I’ll try to make a useful topic about how to hack it, installing a proper capson/off program and installing N-GAGE games.

You can download all the files and make the process a lot easier, but in order not to make things too complicated I make it Step By Step.

Step I - hacking the phone

1. Download this file and install it (HelloCarbide).
2. Run some file browser like X-plore try to enter in c/sys, you couldn’t do that, because you haven’t permissions for that for now (if you don’t see c/sys press 0 and check the first and the fourth box).
3. Minimise the browser pressing the menu key and run HelloCarbide.
4. Press Options -> Menu1.
5. It’ll show a message “Done…probably”, click Yes.
6. Program will crash, open the browser again and try to enter in c/sys again :shock:

Now you could not open ANY other app, in order to do that you must REBOOT your phone.

Step II - installing a browser with all files capability

1. Download this archive (Modo browser).
2. Copy the files from archive to your memory card (make sure that you didn’t messed up the files).
3. Run X-plore and minimise it.
4. Install modo.sis and DON’T open it yet.
5. Hack your phone.
6. Open X-plore again and copy the files from the folders bin and hash, which you have been copied from the archive to the memory card, respectively in c/sys/bin and c/sys/hash, it will ask you to overwrite the files, give Yes.
7. Reboot your phone and make sure that you still have access to system folders using Modo

Step III - installing Plat. Sec. ON/OFF switching program

1. Download one of the files, according to your phone, and copy it to the memory card:
1.1. For Symbian OS 9.1 devices (N93, N80, Е50 and etc.) - this file (sis-installer_mod).
1.2. For Symbian OS 9.2 devices (N95, N82, 6120 and etc.) - this file (sis-installer_symb9.2_mod).
2. Using the modo browser installed in previous step.
3. Copy installserver.exe in c:\sys\bin\ on your phone.
4. Reboot.
5. Download and install this file (BINPDA_Sec_Platform_hack).
6. Now you can turn ON and OFF the platform security and any other software, without need of certificates and without signing. Now you can browse your phone using X-plore.

Step IV - running full n-gage games

1. Download and install this file (N-GAGE launcher).
2. Download and install this file (N-GAGE autostart).
3. Download and install this file (PIPS).
4. Run SecMan -> Options -> Install Root Certificate and minimise it.
5. Choose some game from here and download it.
6. Start the .exe file of the game on the PC -> Next -> Check both options -> Next -> Next -> Extract n-gage file to PC -> Wait a second and click Cancel.
7. Put the .n-gage file in e/n-gage.
8. Run the n-gage application and the game will start to installing.

Barbelo v0.3

Barbelo is a wireless (WiFi) security related toolset for Symbian S60 v3. It currently supports, in a primitive form:
Standart netstumbler/kismet like functionality.
GPS support to map networks.
Logging in Kismet (XML) format.

Description

Barbelo is a wireless (WiFi) security related toolset for Symbian S60v3. It currently supports, in a primitive form:

* GPS support to map networks.

You can see the BSSID and signal level in dBm, check the web page! It currently lacks wep support, hope they add it on next release.
Roadmap

The plan is to implement the following:

* Air like functionality.
* IP-over-DNS.
* VAP support and other crazy stuff?

Usage

* If you want GPS support, start GPSd prior to Barbelo.
* You can select a network in the scan/map tab by pressing up or down.
* You can view the details of a network in the scan/map tab by “clicking” on it (pressing “fire” key between arrows on N95).
* You can zoom in/out in map view by pressing hash/star respectively.

All testing was done on a Nokia N95 8GB.

Author Notes:

* It seems that the wifi card on phones and Symbian are quite capable, if you know the right API. JoikuSpot is an app that turns your phone into an access point. Perhaps Symbian allows applications to do raw 802.11 networking. If so, coding air-like apps is possible.
* Ideally, IP-over-DNS would be implemented like a “vpn”. That is, all traffic from the phone passes to the application, and the application tunnels it over DNS. This requires Symbian to have something like UNIX’s tap interface. If it doesn’t though, we can code IP-over-DNS by setting the web proxy of the browser to 127.0.0.1 and faking a proxy in the application. This will forward only web traffic though. Perhaps we can setup port-forwarding on 127.0.0.1 to enable other apps such as putty and e-mail.
