Description:
BeatEd is a simple drum machine application for Symbian S60 mobile phones. It was originally developed in couple of nights to get a drum machine and metronome application for personal guitar playing purposes. After getting a lot of new ideas and positive feedback, I decided to improve it a bit and make a decent public release of it. So here it is, have fun!

You can now use your Nokia N95, N82, E61 or any other WiFi enabled Nokia phone to connect to commercial hotspots or Whisher shared hotspots around the world. Following our philosphy of integrating instead of introducing a new user experience, we have turned Whisher into a plugin for the Nokia WiFi menu.

How does it work?

Inspired by the popular “LightSaber”, Phone Fight is a prototype sword-fighting game for two players equipped with Nokia N95 or compatible phones. It makes use of the accelerometer within the phones to detect simulated sword slashes and blocks, and Bluetooth to communicate those moves between the phones and to notify the winning player of victory.

The game is written in the popular programming language Python. The game is still an early alpha version, so it’s not that easy to install the game. But by following the instructions below, you should soon be able to fight against your friends.

Prerequisites
Each participating N95, N95 8GB or N82 phone requires:
- The N95 Accelerometer plugin from
- Python for S60 v1.4.2 or newer
- Cyke64’s axyz Python extension from

For each participating phone:
- Make a directory on your phone’s external memory drive called e:\sounds\phonefight and copy everything from the sounds directory into there. The “e:\sounds” directory may be displayed as ‘Sound Clips’ on your phone. Don’t worry about that. Just make a phonefight subdirectory in there.

- Copy “python/fight.py” to “e:\python” or “c:\python” on the phone

Setup
Each player should start the fight.py script from the Python shell’s ‘Run Script’ menu option.

One player should select ‘I am the Champion’ from the menu that appears. This make his or her phone the ’server’. A message will appear saying ‘waiting for client on channel 5…’ (or possibly some other number).

The other player should select ‘I am the Challenger’. He or she will be then prompted with ‘Discover automatically?’. He or she should then answer ‘yes’ and a a list of nearby bluetooth-enabled phones will appear*. The other player should select the champion’s phone from this list.

If setup is successful, a sword ‘unsheathing’ sound effect will be heard on both phones, and both players can commence combat.

Combat
A vertical attack is successfully defended by a horizontal block and vice versa.

To execute a vertical attack:
Start with the phone screen facing you in a vertical (i.e. portrait) position. Move the phone rapidly downward and away from you.

To execute a horizontal attack:
Start with the phone screen facing you pointing to the left or right, it doesn’t matter which (i.e. landscape). Move the phone rapidly away and to the side.

To block:
Hold your phone vertically or horizontally, as appropriate, with the screen facing you. Note that holding the phone upside-down is *not* a valid block.

In either form of attack, a sword ’swhoosh’ sound should be heard. If your attack is successful (i.e. not blocked), your opponent’s phone will play an ‘urrgh’ sound effect and he or she will lose of his or her 10 health points. Otherwise, a ‘ching’ sound effect will be heard.

When one player has no health left, the game is over.

The object of the game is to deliver ten successful blows to your
opponent before he or she can do the same.

Playing again
At the end of the game, each player will be told the result and prompted to play again. Each player must give the same answer, or the game will crash!

Practice Mode
Selecting ‘I need practice’ from the first menu will initiate a practice mode, where you can swoosh your virtual sword to your heart’s content. No other phone is necessary in this mode.

All of you who have friends with accelerometer supporting phones, just try to follow the steps, it’s not as hard as it looks like. And if it is, the fun you will have to play this game should be always worthwhile!

Viking.Informatics.CellGPS.v2.01.S60v3.SymbianOS9. 1.Unsigned.ed-illusion

CellGPS sends GPS or GSM information via Internet to a webserver, useful for tracking people or vehicles.

CellGPS sends the location of the mobile phone to a webserver (gsm cell identifier or GPS information).
It connects automatically to the server using a predefined GPRS connection, at predefined time periods.
A Bluetooth-capable GPS device is required if you want to send GPS information (e.g. EMTEC Bluetooth GPS, or Fortuna Bluetooth GPS, etc.).

How to set it up:

Connection period: it shows the frequency of the connection (in seconds).
IP: set the IP address of the server.
Host: set the host name of the server.
URI: set the page of the server to be called.
Connection: select amoung the available GPRS connections (set up in Menu/Tools/Settings/), e.g. you can select a WAP or an Internet connection.
Upload: shows the information being uploaded to the server.
Cell ID: uploads the gsm cell id.
GPS data: latitude, longitude, direction, speed information. It connects only if the GPS data is valid.

How to connect to the GPS device:

A Bluetooth-capable device is required. In Settings, switch to upload GPS data, and restart the program.
At the first time, the scan for Bluetooth devices starts. After selecting the appropiate device, the phone connects to it, and begins to receive location information. If the device is not paired, then it will ask for the Bluetooth code.
After the first time, the phone will automatically look for this GPS device. No matter if the device goes out of range, it will connect to it again automatically.
The received location information is displayed below the cell id and signal strength. It is displayed with red when the information is not valid (the GPS device is not in range, or the current location is not determinable).

Scheherazade 1.01 for S60 is an audio book (and podcast) listener for Nokia S60 phones.

New features in version 1.01:

1. Resume playing after call: Scheherazade will resume playing if a call interrupts playing, there will be a rewind (by default 30 seconds, user can change this from settings menu) to let user remember the story after the distraction of a call.
2. Voice tagging: user can start recording their voice by pressing and holding “5″ on phone, recording will stop by releasing the key. this feature is disabled by default and user needs to enable it from the settings menu to start using it.
3. Smooth rewind/forward: pressing and holding the left/right or 4/6 keys results a smooth backward/forward.
4. Full support for unicode file names. special thanks to Lena Kragelund (Livia) for helping with tests.

Features in version 1.00:

1. Drag and listen design, no conversion to weired formats or index files needed.
2. Just create an “Audiobooks” folder in your memory card (or phone memory) and drag your audiobooks to it.
3. You can delete parts that you’ve already listened to, in order to free up some space.
4. Remembers your listening position seperately for each book/podcast.
5. Multi level directories for each book (supports Book/Chapter/file or more levels of directories)
6. Supports single file books/podcasts, just copy the file to AudioBooks folder on your phone.
7. Short rewind/forward by pressing left and right keys, default period is 20 seconds, adjustable by sellecting settings menu
8. Long rewind/forward by pressing 4and 6 keys, default period is 60 seconds, adjustable from settings menu
9. Rewind can take listening position to previous chapter if it is at the begining of a file, likewise forward can take it to next chapter.
10. Pressing 7 and 9 keys will take the listener to previous and next chapters.

12. Ok key acts as play/pause. There is a rewind on pause effect helping the listener to remember the story next time play is pressed. the auto rewind on pause is 5 seconds by default and can be changed from settings.
13. File progress bar on the top of the screen indicates listening position in the current file.
14. Total progress bar on the bottom of screen indicates listening position relative to the book.
15. Can play any file format the phone plays, this by default includes “.wav“, “.mp3“, “.m4b”, “.m4a”, “.wma”, “.amr” and “.acc”
16. Other formats can be added by installing the MMFs, for example “.awb” and “.flac”

RaceChrono is a GPS based lap timing software for Nokia S60 smart phones. It can be used to measure lap times on almost any vehicle and track.
It can be used to measure laptimes for example for motorbikes, bicycles, cars, water jets and quadbikes.

RaceChrono version 0.91 for Nokia S60 Second Edition.
Supported phones: Nokia 3230, 6260, 6600, 6620, 6670, 7610, 6630, 6680, 6681, 6682, N70, N72 and N90.
