Compatibility and system requirements
Should work but not fully tested with all devices based on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1, including N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95, N95 8GB, E90. If you are using N95, please make sure you have the latest firmware (20.0.015 or newer). You can update the firmware with Nokia Software Updater. Navigation features require either built-in GPS or external Bluetooth GPS receiver such as Nokia Bluetooth GPS Module LD-4W.

Installation instructions

1. Download the correct version of Nokia Maps to your PC and install it with PC suite or transfer the sis file to your phone.
2. Launch the Nokia Maps application on your phone if installed with PC suite or locate the sis file and run it. Follow the instructions. Launch application after installation finishes.
3. Download and install Nokia Map Loader for your Windows PC from this page. Follow the on-screen instructions during installation. You need to run the Maps beta once first in the phone before connecting to PC.
4. (optional): Download map files with Nokia Map Loader and transfer them to your phone. Start exploring your world!

With Nokia Location Tagger, you can automatically tag your location data to your pictures. As you take a picture, your GPS coordinates are saved to the EXIF header of the JPEG file. You can use this data later, for example, to locate your pictures on a map.

In the near future, we hope to make location tagging a seamlessly integrated part of your Nokia experience. Until then, Nokia Location Tagger is a small standalone application that gives you a sneak preview. We are not planning to productize this application as such, but we’d love to hear your thoughts already now, so that we have time to take it into account in the mainstream development.

Compatibility
Tested with Nokia N95, N95 8GB, N82, and E90 using the integrated GPS. Should work but not fully tested with all S60 3rd edition devices using an external Bluetooth GPS receiver.
This version has been tested on N95, N82, E90 as well as N73, N81 with external GPS module (Nokia LD-4W). It should work on all other devices; but there is no guarantee at this point.

Instructions

* Launch Nokia Location Tagger application.
* On the main screen, you will see the status of your GPS module. It will show the coordinate if GPS module is active. Otherwise, it will show “Searching”.
* To tag pictures with GPS coordinates, simply use the built-in Camera application. Press the Camera button of your device to take pictures as usual. When Nokia Location Tagger is running in the background, you will see small icon at the top left corner of Camera’s view finder. This indicates the status of GPS module:
Green: GPS module is active.
Amber: Nokia Location Tagger is connecting to GPS module or searching for GPS coordinate.
Red: GPS module is inactive.

What’s new in this release?

1. Persistent log. Now when you exit the application, your list of images in your logs tab will not disappear. When you delete an image from the Gallery of File Manager, the item will also be removed from the logs tag.
2. File renaming. There is additional option in the Settings menu to rename tagged file. The file name will be added _NLT as suffix. For example, if the original file name is image001.jpg, it will be renamed to image001_NLT.jpg. This feature will allow you to easily differentiate between tagged and non-tagged files.
3. Get location from cache. As you may know from our last posting that Location Tagger tags pictures with the last known position in the last 1 hour. If there is no last known position, it will put pictures in the queue until time-out. We added a new feature that allows you to get location from GPS device’s cache.
4. Optimization and some bug fixes. This new version should run relatively faster than the previous one.

This small script is a Fractal generator written in the Python programming language. It generates the most widely recognized fractal (the Mandelbrot set) on a Nokia S60 mobile phone. This code was inspired by the original Fractint program. It’s amazing to see this program run quicker on an mobile phone (Nokia e90) than it did on a i386 machine in the early 1990’s…

If you know about fractals, you may have seen nice pictures about the famous Mandelbrot or Julia sets.In fact, there have existed a lot of fractal galleries on the Internet, just hit some search engine and it will give you a variety of spectacular computer generated virtual arts about fractals. And there also exist Java applets and stand-alone apps which display the beauty of fractals dynamically.

Mandelbrot set is one of the most intricate and beautiful images in all of mathematics, discovered by Benoit Mandelbrot in 1980. Most people within the mathematics community, and many people outside of the discipline, have seen this image and have marvelled at its geometric intricacy.

Python v1.42 or higher is required. It is just meant for fun & a good example to study. I have attached the script too

Nokia Channels is now Nokia Headlines: new features, simplified user interface

Through Nokia Headlines, you can enjoy daily news, sports, and entertainment, provided by international and local branded publishers. The service is completely free from Nokia, and the experience is fully optimized for mobile. You can access your favorite publications via WiFi or GSM, and read the content either online or offline.

Headlines is a new version of the existing Kanavat service that was successfully piloted in Finland in late 2005. This new international service provides significant improvements to the user interface, makes the content catalogue global, and also adds an advertising dimension - so that you can enjoy the service for FREE.
