Best Jotter allows to jot down notes, memos, ideas and any piece of information, organise, categorize, protect and encrypt them with password if needed, intelligent search and export/import to a text file to be viewed or edited on PC.

What’s new in 2.00
Edit note view:
Last line (partial) drawing is fixed.
Copy/Cut/Paste commands are added.
Font size selection is added.
Possibility to change appearance is added (Skin based or black/white)

Export/import:
Export/import is completely made over, many variuos fixes.
Export/import data is in unicode now (No more problems when you have data entered in cyrillic, chinese, etc).
Export/import is now transaction based - If something went wrong during the operation the whole operation is rolled back.
The problem with buffer allocation when importing large notes is fixed .
Delete all data command is added.

Security:
Change password is transaction based now. If something went wrong during the operation the whole operation is rolled back.
Password setup is in unicode now (No more problems when you type password in cyrillic, chinese, etc).
The application behavior when you try to set up an empty password is fixed.

Search:
The problem with searching in large notes is fixed.
Search results view: deleting note by pressing “c” key is added.

Note name generation to be displayed in the main view is changed. It gets the first line from the note and cuts the leading spaces now.
Now folder selection dialog shows folders in the same order as in the main view.
All icons are re-designed, they look better on high resolution devices now.
Now all jotter views support dynamic screen size change (rotation) correctly.

Arranging notes
You can move existing notes up and down in the list using Pen+Joystick up/down or the corresponding command from menu.
You can move existing notes to any folder using ‘Move note to folder’ command

Search:
You can find the needed note using “Search” command. Just specify a part of text you want to find and the application will look for the note for you. Search function will analyse all notes in all folders and will search for the specified text.

Export/Import:
If you want to back up your data you can use Export command. The application exports your data in comma separated text file. Please note that this file is not encrypted and you can open it in readable form in Excel application on your desktop PC. You can import your data to the application using “Import” command. Please note that when you import data it just adds notes listed in the importing file to the existing database. If you already have the same note in the database you will get its duplicate.

Security:
You can password protect and encrypt your data stored in Best Jotter. To enable security use ‘Set Password’ command. After you specify a password all your data will be encrypted. Every time you open Best Jotter the application asks you for the password. When you work with the application all data encryption/decryption is performed on the fly and absolutely transparent to you.

If you want to disable password protection use ‘Change password’ command and specify an empty password.

To keep your data secure we use BlowFish encryption and MD5 message digest algorithms.

Please note: your password is not stored anywhere inside the application or on the device in order to increase safety. Password verification is performed by checking digital signs (digital signs say nothing about your password nature). It means that no person (including the application developers) can open and see your data without specifying correct password. Please don’t forget your password as there’s no way to access your data without it!

Security options:
You can set up automatic application lock (password screen appears when the application is locked). To do so you can use Security options command and specify inactivity time period. E.g. specifying 15 seconds here means if during 15 seconds you don’t work with your device (don’t touch any key, etc) Best Jotter application will ask the password again before you can continue to work with the application.
