Nokia Channels Media Service Beta 4

Through Nokia Channels Media Service, international and local branded publishers provide daily news, sports, and entertainment that is optimized for mobile. You can access your favorite publications via WiFi or GSM, and then read the content either online or offline.

The service is very easy to use. You don’t even need to register!

In the coming weeks, new features and new publications will be added to the service. This will happen automatically, without requiring any action from you. We are open to any improvement suggestions or new ideas - please give us feedback!

NEW FEATURES
1. Platform fonts with UNICODE support.
2. Five different font size selections for best viewing of articles.
3. Quick scrolling, up and down, within articles with number 2 and 8 keys.
4. Headline titles text wrapping
5. Support for streamed audio and video (3GPP and Real) and streamed Shoutcast audio using built in media engine. Content atom stream can also provide a thumbnail image for video/audio stream.

KEY FIXES
1. Channels can now be closed from open applications/tasks list or by pressing the end call button.
2. Information box at top can now display long texts in two rows.
3. When Channels was running pressing #-key did not work from other applications. Problem is fixed.
4. Pressing # key did not work while Channels was running.
5. Duplicate media and article entries.
6. Improved advertising fetch and display.
7. Sometimes clicking an old headline did not retrieve the contents correctly.
8. Depending on time zone, content usage time stamps may have appeared incorrectly.
9. Application startup speed has increased.
10. Subscribing to a channel from genre tab, used to produce a problem if user contintued to navigate back and forth between Location and Genre tabs.
11. Clicking a headline that has not been downloaded, in disconnected mode, did not reconnect and retrieve the article.
12. Download actions can now be cancelled by pressing highlighted right soft key with text “Cancel”.
13. Client crashing occasionally while “tabbing” back and forward in channels using Web media UI template.l

KNOWN ISSUES
Using accelerometer may sometimes kill the application.
Video streams launched from article are now being played on black full screen instead of inside articles. This will be fixed later.
