Olive Telecommunication, a Haier partner, announced the introduction of Haier’s first 3G embedded netbooks – the company calls them “Zipbooks”.
Part of the new Olive Convergence brand, the Olive Zipbooks will be launched in two versions: EV-DO (using Tata Teleservices’ network) and HSPA (using BSNL’s network).
The netbooks come in four colors and feature: Intel Atom N270 processor, 1-GB DDR2 memory and 160GB HDD. Some newer models will ship with Windows 7.
Olive has also announced seven new handsets: 2 touchscreen phones (Olivepwrr and Olivetouch), two dual SIM phones (V-G400 and V-G500), two candybars (Olivecompacta and Oliveglide) and a QWERTY phone (Olivemsgr).
The folks over at Haier have twittered some details about Olive’s new products, including the fact that the Olive Zipbooks (with a 3.5G modem embedded) will retail for under 23,000 INR ($491) a piece.
Olive will also launch Android smartphones, and an AAA battery-powered handset in 2010. One of the Android devices (Olive V-W1) is rendered below, but there are no specs available.
