The application determines the location with a Bluetooth GPS receiver and transmits the tracking data to a server in real-time through a cellular packet data connection.

Individual users can use Aspicore GSM Tracker for personal location tracking. They can e.g. automatically publish their current location and daily track on their web page.

Communication is fast and reliable and costs are low, because the application uses packet data transfer technology and a very compact messaging protocol. The latency between the actual GPS position fix and data receive event in the server is normally only a few seconds.

The application is not a standalone system. It is a component, which must be integrated into a tracking system before its full power can be utilized.

NB. Some of the sample screenshot images contain functionality, which is not included inside the application. ‘Tracking Juha’ info display is done with a PHP script running in a PC computer. The map is from the S60 web browser after selecting “Current position” -> “Show in browser” from the application’s Options menu. Bluetooth GPS device or a cell phone with integrated GPS is recommended. The possible GPS must be purchased separately.

Bloove - phone log upload added.

Bloove is web-based mobile phone management service. Edit your contacts, make calls and work with SMS using your favorite browser.

Bloove is like PC Suite for the web. It allows you to manage your phone via web browser without cables or Bluetooth. Only data connection is needed. This version has support for:

* edit contacts on the phone
* store contacts in the archive
* send SMS messages and initiate calls
* manage Speed Dials
* work with Inbox, Sent, Drafts and other folders
* archive old messages to free some space on the phone (you may restore them later)
* view message history threaded by contacts
* *NEW* Now you are able to work with missed and received call, dialed numbers, data sessions. Call duration and amount of sent and received data is displayed as well. All logs are automatically archived on the server, so if it is deleted on the phone (most of phones keep only latest 30 days), it will be still accessible via Bloove.

All available functions are free for now; we are planning to add premium features in forthcoming releases.

After downloading and installing agent go to www.bloove.com using your desktop browser, sign up for an account (only user name and password or OpenID is required) and connect your phone to the account by entering ID displayed by agent.

FAQ

1. What is it?
Bloove is an online phone management service. It allows you to edit address book contacts and speed dial settings, initiate calls, work with messages and logs - all from your favorite browser. It is like PC Suite for the web.

2. Why would I need it?
Bloove communicates with a mobile phone via wireless data connection: GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, Wi-Fi etc. So, no cable, infrared or Bluetooth hardware is needed. You will need to install Bloove Agent application on your phone, no installs are required on the desktop. You may manage your phone everywhere you have just a browser, without cumbersome desktop application.

3. How much does it cost?
The free version is currently available. With the free version you can’t connect more then one mobile phone to you account, Contact Archive is limited to 15 items and Message Archive is lmited to 100 items. All other features are unrestricted: you may manage an unlimited number of contacts and messages on the phone, and there is no time limit - basic functions will be free forever. We plan to introduce premium options with more number of mobile phones and archive items allowed.

4. How to Sign Up?

5. How to install Bloove Agent?

Open http://bloove.com/m on your mobile. It will determine a compatible version for your phone automatically.

For Symbian phones you will need to agree with all warnings and just run the agent. For J2ME you will need to grant access to network and your contacts for the Agent to work properly prior to running application. Access settings are specific to phone vendor.

On Nokia phones open Application, choose Bloove Agent, choose Options/Application Access and set Communication/Network Access to Always allowed. Repeat Always allowed setting for Data access/Read user data and Data access/Add and edit data.

On Sony-Ericsson phones open Organizer/File manager/Applications, choose Bloove Agent, choose More/Permissions and set Internet access to Never ask. Repeat Never ask setting for Read user data and Write user data. If your phone allows you to do so, set Never ask to Messaging as well

6. What is Contact Archive?
If you have a large contact list, not all contacts are needed all the time. You may move rarely used contacts to the Archive and free space on the phone. Once you will need these contacts you may move them back.

7. What is Message Archive?
Bloove keeps all messages in your Inbox, Sent and other folders. If you delete message on the phone, its archived copy will be stored on the server. You can archive any messages and folders using our web interface - archived items will be deleted on the phone and will be kept on the server. Use archive function to unclutter your phone and free the space. You can search your entire message list regardless if message is archived or not. You can always restore archived messages to the phone in case you need it. “Delete forever” command deletes messages both on the phone and on the server completely and can’t be undone.

8. What is Logs Archive?
All logs from the phone are archived on the server without any specific command from the user. If you delete log record, it will be deleted both form the server and from the phone and it can’t be undone.

9. How can I see history for specific contacts?
Small blue balloon is displayed near contact name if there is message or calls history for it. Click on this balloon to see the history.

10. How send SMS function is working?
Server will send command to the agent, agent on the phone initiates sending the message on your behalf. Most J2ME phones require user confirmation to send SMS. Symbian phones will store the message in Sent folder, it is impossible for J2ME due to lack of API support.

11. Do I have to keep Bloove Agent running all the time?
Bloove Agent should be running only if your make changes to your contacts, do calls, send SMS etc. If Bloove Agent is not running, phone data will still be accessible in a browser in read-only mode.

12. How much bandwidth does agent use?
We are using our own optimized protocol between agent and server. It consumes about 20 Kbytes per hour in idle mode. Largest data transfer will occur on first connection, it is about 10 Kbytes per 100 contacts. Subsequent operations transfer only changed data.

13. Is it secure?
All agent-server and server-browser communications are encrypted using SSL.

14. What phones are supported?
All modern Symbian and J2ME phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Message folders and messages archive are supported only for Symbian phones. Logs are supported only for Nokia S60 phones. You can find the detailed list of phones here.

15. What browsers are supported?
Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9. Other browsers may work but it is not tested. Use it at your own risk and report experiences in our forum.

Q. What is Locatik? Can I have it?

Locatik is a place recommendation service introduced last year by Psiloc. It solves the ultimate question of “Where to?”, which we ask more often in the new places we find ourselves in. Locatik will have the answer to that question, literally at hands reach, in no time. The social powered algorithms Psiloc has developed for Locatik will provide you with suggestions, based on a combination of both user-generated and premium content, that you won’t have to think twice about.

Just imagine ending up in the chic part of town in the late afternoon, what is there to see? Where to hang out? Just see what Locatik thinks of the places your friends, friends of your friends or the locals are recommending in the area beyond the touristy mainstream, a truly personal guide, out there in the unknown. What if you and your friend drive by a town you never set foot in before, and just happen to feel like a steak? You will be the one asking Locatik for recommendations, you will be the one that knows the best steak house in town.

Q. What are the changes made to the 0.94 version?

The following changes have been made to the 0.94 mobile client:

Places feature has been added to this version. You can now see the places your friends like and recommend on your device screen. For this purpose a new tab has been added, the “Places” tab. These items will update every time you send a Tik, always showing you the closest place that one of your friends defined. By clicking with the select button on the place itself, you will be taken to a screen with more information regarding the place you clicked, including a photograph of that place uploaded by the person that created the place. For this version however do remember that place adding is only possible via the web interface, after logging in. The list will display only the places within a reasonable distance from your current position and mark the places defined by your friends places with a green icon, while the ones defined as public by everybody else as blue icons.

GPS mode has just gained an option - When Outdoors. We’ve been getting a lot of complaints that Locatik with it’s GPS on, drains the device battery relatively fast. This is due to the nature of the hardware used by manufacturers. We have managed to find a workaround however. When in Outdoors mode, Locatik detects when you walked indoors and after some time switches the GPS module off (since it isn’t of much use anyway), thus cutting on the power usage. When left in this mode, Locatik will detect any significant movement you make, and once it decides you might by in GPS coverage again it will try to obtain GPS signal, and put itself to sleep again if it fails. At the same time we figured that GPS is an option important enough to be on the status screen. Thus from this version on, you can toggle the GPS status right there from the status screen using the select button.

The “Send While Roaming” setting now doesn’t block Tik sending when you are sending Tiks via a WiFi access point and are in roaming.

Other minor functionalities have been added.

Other smaller and bigger bug fixes have been made (including the Already In Use bug, you might have happened to have)
