Google Maps UIQ3

This is something many UIQ 3 users have been waiting for (me included!). A native SIS client for Google Maps instead of a Java Midlet. The new client is fast, looks neat and has a function called ‘My Location’ which basically gives a guess of your whereabouts. No press release whatsoever, but for you who want to test it, head over to http://www.google.com/gmm using your UIQ 3’s internet browser and download the SIS file. Screenshots after the break.
In my opinion, this is a good sign, showing support for UIQ application development. Not to forget that UIQ Technology signed an agreement with 6 new partners early this year and this could be one of the results. It is a very welcome move and hopefully it will not stop here. There are other Mobile Google Apps clients which need to be made available as native Symbian, especially the GMail Mobile client. The current Java implementation, while it does the job really well, is getting slower and not as good as it would have been, if it was made available natively.

RockNScroll Beta 1.0 - Unsigned

I have told you yesterday that I was honoured by Keynetik to receive “RockNScroll” as one of very few elected people to have a look at it even before the public release.
It is clear for me to present you all the features of this amazing application in this large preview and I really hope to succeed in fulfilling the quality of this application.
Don’t care if you don’t know anything about “RockNScroll”, I will start completely from the beginning.
What the Application is about
Accelerometer technology is currently amazing most of the users of current Nseries phones. The amount of available new concepts and new applications isn’t stopping.
The most famous developer of accelerometer using applications, Samir, has started the wave of accelerometer application with “rotateMe”, a wave which didn’t stop till now and won’t stop so soon.
Samir’s next project was “Nokmote”, the first application which brought motion input to S60 devices. “Nokmote” was actually developed for playing games and was simply too sensitive to work satisfying for menu navigation.
Shortly after its release, a video occurred on YouTube showing an application you could mistake as a “Nokmote” copy. However, only a little deeper glance showed that “RockNScroll” developed by the world’s leading motion input enterprise, Keynetik, is everything else than that.
“RockNScroll” is a single sensor based application providing motion input to latest Nseries phones like the N82, N95, N95 8GB and also the coming N96. That means you can control your phone only with movements without pressing any key, providing access to nearly all functions of an S60 phone.
The application is not only thought for menu navigation; it offers also a gaming mode bringing new gaming experiences in a similar way like Nokmote. Of course this is just a little extract of what this powerful software can do. Read on to discover more about its other features.
“RockNScroll” gives you the possibility to navigate in the menus of your accelerometer supporting Nokia device by using different gestures. With little flicks of your wrist in the corresponding direction, you are able to move the cursor right and left, up and down.
Menu navigation consists of course not only of moving the cursor. “RockNScroll” supports a “Push gesture” which is used to confirm a selection and a “Pull gesture” for back or exit command. As you can see, Keynetik thought about all necessary possibilities to make menu navigation as comfortable as possible. It didn’t work with “Nokmote” like this, not only because of the high sensitivity, but also because of the lack of a “Back gesture”.
While navigating, you can hold the device in nearly every angle you like; the application adjusts itself to the phone’s position. Also an advantage in comparison to “Nokmote” which worked only in a certain angle.
1. Up/Down/Left/Right tilt gestures to emulate single press on navigation pad. Will be operable in any orientation (portrait/landscape) and any position (horizontal/vertical/in between) as shown in the video. Good for menus and some games.
2. Some noise filtering. It won’t be totally immune to interference, but it will be usable while in motion (walking, driving, etc.)
3. Adjustable sensitivity levels
4. Scroll mode: Tilt (same as 1) and hold for scrolling to emulate press and hold on nav pad. Good for phone books, media player, etc.
5. Game mode: Orientation and position specific based on device tilt and angle. Meaning you will have to hold in horizontally at 0 angle in landscape orientation. Good for at home gaming.
6. Screen rotation: Rotating device from portrait to landscape.

For those N95 8gb owners having problem installing the app
[Reinstall RotateMe then reboot your phone
Dont exit the app coz you'll have to reboot the phone again for the app to run..lol
Please Press The
Button If You Like:thumbup::finger:
From the developer
I did 5 more tests and talked to my friends from msn who has n95-8gbs, now I can confirm that ROTATEME is the main issue widely... In order to run RnS in n95-8gbs ROTATEME must be uninstalled also users must disable autostart feature of flipsilent, shakesms and any other acc based apps... Then reboot n95-8gb and now Rns can be started... After starting RnS, users can start any other acc based application...
A SOLUTION FOR FLIPSILENT AND SHAKESMS AUTOSTART WITH RnS:
1-Install POWERBOOT freeware application
2-Install RDaccelerometerplugin and RnS.
3-Configure RnS to autostart Within POWERBOOT ( must be first app to autostart )
4-Install FLIPSILENT AND SHAKESMS and use their autostart feature...
5-Reboot your device and now you can use them together after reboot without starting them manually... ( Tested with my device and other 4 n95-8gbs )
According to my tests for n95-8gb, there is no need to uninstall those acc based applications if users can deactive them not to run during boot process... Especially flipsilent, rotateme and shakesms has autostart features and users can off the autostart feature within these applications... This is what i did and RnS worked...So RnS must be started first after a fresh reboot!!! If any other acc apps is started even once then there is no way to run RnS beta 1 until a fresh reboot... Of course this issue may change phone to phone...
A minute ago i tested RnS with 3 different n95-8 gbs of my friends and confirmed to work if RnS is started first after boot process... Also here i didnt uninstall any other acc based applications just off the autostart features of flipsilent, rotateme and shakesms...
EDIT: I tested with another n95-8g and this time i had to uninstall just rotateme not flipsilent(autostart off) and shakesms(autostart off) in order to run RnS... Strange... So it seems that Rotateme is the main problem in some n95-8gbs for RnS, but also other acc apps must not be started during boot process ... Hope this helps !

New Version of Mail for Exchange: 2.3
Mail for Exchange, Nokia’s enterprise. push email solution based on Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync protocol, has yet again received an upgrade. The most recent version is Mail for Exchange 2.3.
I’m really impressed by the frequency Nokia updates Mail for Exchange. It seems as if a new version is available every other month or so. Considering the fact that the solution is free I am amazed by the constant updates. Sure, not all the updates are major but I rather have many, incremental updates and tweaks rather than wait a year for some big, bundled update.
Anyway, the new version includes one fix/new feature:
When trying to synchronize with a server that has an expired certificate, the user is now given the choice of continuing the synchronization. Previously, the scenario resulted in an error and the synchronization was stopped. (From the Release Notes)
If you don’t have a Microsoft Exchange acccount but still want to try out the Mail for Exchange and a push email based solution I suggest you sign up for a free Exchange account with Mail2Web. They offer a great, free service.
You can’t beat free. Especially when what you get is a great, useful product or service. One such a great service I stumbled across is Mail2Web LIVE. A free email service based on Microsoft Exchange. Because it is Microsoft Exchanged based, and Mail For Exchange is available as a free download for your Nokia E-Series device you can get free push email on your device.
The set up is very easy. You sign up for Mail2Web LIVE, download and install the Mail For Exchange client on your Nokia E61 and you are up and running.
By signing up to Mail2web LIVE you will get a @mail2web.com email address that is based on Microsoft Exchange 2003 server. You can access your email, calendar, contacts etc through a web interface but the exciting part is the free push email and more feature.
Web2Mail LIVE will push your email, calendar and contacts to your Nokia E-Series device, just like any other Microsoft Exchange implementation.
This is a great service for someone who either wants to just take Microsoft Exchange and Mail For Exchange for a test drive, or someone who wants a reliable and free push email solution. In either case, I highly recommend their service.
Many email providers, for an example gmail, will let you set up email forwarding so that all your received email gets automatically forwarded to an additional address, for an example your @mail2web.com address. This way you can “piggy back” on Mail2Web’s free service and get free push email of other mail accounts.
If your mail provider doesn’t support email forwarding, Mail2Web LIVE can set up email retrieval of POP3 and IMAP accounts. However, mail will only be retrieved once an hour. So while the email will be pushed directly to your device when it arrives at your Mail2Web account, it might take up to an hour for the message to be retrieved by Mail2Web’s servers.
I was genuinely impressed by Mail2Web LIVE service, support and product. It is fast, robust and free
My only complain is that I thought it was hard to find the settings for Mail For Exchange (ActiveSync settings). But if you log on to your customer control panel and go to “Free Services” and then select “Mail2Web LIVE” you will see the settings needed to set up Mail For Exchange on your Nokia E-Series device.

An even minor complaint was that I kept on forgetting to log on with my FULL @mail2web.com’s email address. I tried just using my registered name without the @mail2web.com part, but that didn’t work. So save yourself some trouble and remember to use your FULL email address when you log on to the services.

There are other companies that offers free push email but this is the first company that I have seen that offer free Microsoft Exchange email with the push functionality turned on.
Mail2Web offers a number of paid services such as email and domain hosting as well. I am so impressed by their free service that I am now considering letting them host my e-series.org mail.
UPDATE:
Needless to say be careful when you synchronize your device the first time. If your device contains information already make sure your “Sync Content” preferences are set to “In case of Conflict”, “Phone Wins” the first time you use the service so you don’t accidently erase any data. In addition, do back up all your data before.

WebGate.Voice.Inbox.v1.04.45.S60v3.SymbianOS9.1.Unsigned.ed-BiNPDA

Voice Inbox is an application that empowers your device with answering machine functionality. Installing Voice Inbox on your device you can rely on your own independent answering machine with local storage of messages left instead of on your operator voice mailbox service.
How does Voice Inbox work?
When somebody calls, the application answers the call with a greeting as defined by you and records the voice message left by the caller.
When new messages have been received, you will see a notice on the phone’s display. You can then play / delete the voice messages received and you can also see message details: when the message was recorded and who the caller was.
