What is EQO?

EQO (pronounced “echo”) is a FREE, easy to use application for your existing mobile phone that lets you call anywhere in the world for rates as low as 2.3 cents/minute.

Plus, with EQO you get cheap text messages and free access to all your favourite instant messaging services like MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, ICQ and Jabber!

EQO is remarkably simple to use and does not require a new contract, computer or calling card. It works just like your mobile’s phonebook - simply scroll through your contacts and click to call or send a message.

How EQO Works

Cheap EQO Calls and Text Messages

EQO works like just like your mobile’s phonebook, but with added features like instant messaging and the ability to see which of your contacts are online (presence). To make a call or send a text message, simply scroll through and click on a contact. EQO is able to detect whether you’re dialing an international or domestic long distance number, and will automatically route the call to a local number on the EQO network. To complete these calls or messages, EQO uses a combination of your existing local minutes and data plan. These are called “EQO Out” calls or messages.

Free EQO Calls and Text Messages

With EQO’s unique technology, you can also place free mobile-mobile calls and send free text messages to other online EQO users… That’s right � FREE!

When you have contacts in your EQO phonebook that are also EQO users, EQO’s presence feature automatically allows you to see whether they are online or offline (you can also send them a “nudge” to get online). When you click to call or message another online EQO user, the communication is automatically routed through a local number and connected on the EQO network. You’re now making EQO calls and sending EQO messages to friends and family around the world using only your existing local minutes and data. It may sound a bit odd, but it works! If your contact is not already and EQO user, simply use EQO’s Invite function and they’ll automatically receive a link to join you in using EQO.

Free Instant Messaging

No time for a call? No worries! With EQO’s Instant Messaging function, you can now connect to all your favourite IM accounts right from your mobile phone. EQO is compatible with all the major IM services: MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, ICQ and Jabber! To access any of your IM accounts, simply select the service provider, sign-in using your existing username and password, and EQO will automatically connect you. Your contacts and their online status will automatically be displayed. EQO provides this service to you free of charge � IM chats are completed using a very small amount of your existing data only.
